Hand Milled Scandinavian Birch Leaf Soap with Poppy Seeds, Invigorating, Exfoliating

This soap is a favourite with Scandinavian sauna users and we use a recipe I've had since the 1970s.  Sweet Birch essential oil has a sweet, sharp, scent that is very fresh and similar to Wintergreen (which smells a bit like root beer).  We have made our soaps with a saponified cold process soap base of shea butter and have added sweet birch essential oil and organic poppy seeds for gentle exfoliation.

Sweet Birch essential oil used in soap gives feelings of strength and warmth and has been used in cold climates as a  traditional scent for many avid sauna users in Scandinavian countries. It’s  a traditional scent that is known for this sharp minty  and root beer like smell. 

There are no artificial perfumes or colourants in these bars and they are vegan and cruelty free.

NOTE:  Do not use birch leaf  if you are already taking a diuretic, or you are on blood thinning medicines. Those with aspirin allergies or allergy to birch trees should never use birch oil and this should not be used by pregnant women or children under 12 years of age due to the salicylate (aspirin) and Reyes Syndrome.  These warnings are more for the ingestion of Sweet Birch Oil but we like to err on the side of caution!

Skin Types:  Most skin types.  Not for sensitive skin.  A patch test is recommended.

 Size: 3.0  ounce bar (average weight may be heavier as we cut each bar at 4 ounces to allow for shrinking during curing)
